In Passing
Despair sinks into flesh,
Fracturing bones,
Permeating each waking moment.
You have gone without goodbye.
Mother weeps.
Strange features on a foreign face.
Voice a distant dream.
Did your smile once turn to me?
I cannot remember.
What remains?
Untold traits cascade
generation after
generation.
Surely one will find me?
Or else memory alone
must stay you.
Wails pound against the wall
yet words remain lost.
